Abstract
Many guidelines support routine preoperative assessment using questionnaires prior to patients are seen by an anesthesiologist or their arrival in the anesthetic room. Data collection may be performed self-administered by patients using mobile apps or alternative methods. At present, there is not enough evidence to make clear recommendations about the impact of apps on questionnaire responses. However, it may be speculated that the ongoing increase of smartphones per capita strengthens patient’s capability for self-administered data collection using the own smartphone. The aim of this work was therefore to develop a functional smartphone app for preoperative patient assessment, fulfilling requests setup by an expert group.
