This paper focuses on the discovery of Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliensis and P. wasabiae, 2 new species of bacteria causing blackleg of potatoes in Switzerland and southern Germany, based on molecular analyses. The symptoms of this bacterial infection in the field are also presented.
