Dobrusskin, Sebastian (26 September 2003). "Real Life" im Studium: die konservatorische Betreuung des museum franz gertsch in Burgdorf durch die Vertifungsrichtung Graphik, Schriftgut und Photographie der Hochschule der Künste Bern = “Real Life” at University: Preservation at the museum franz gertsch in Burgdorf, Carried out by the Conservation Programme for Graphic Art, Books, Archives and Photography at the University of Art in Berne In: X. IADA Kongress Preprints. Göttingen. 22.–26.09.2003.
In October 2002, the privately financed museum franz gertsch was opened. In accordance with its name, objects of the Bernese artist Franz Gertsch (*1930) are shown, however, during special exhibitions other, mainly contemporary art, is exhibited as well. Representatives of the conservation programme of Berne had already been integrated into the detailed planning during the construction of the museum franz gertsch. The agreementdefining the conservational care of the museum—is translated into action through the University of Art in Berne, carried out by professors and students alike, and has its main emphasis on preventive conservation. Environmental conditions and light, the problems of a newly constructed building, the “struggle” with architects and craftsmen, the set-up and the dismantling of exhibitions are part of the schedule, as well as the handling of extremely large works on paper. Finally, the contact with the artist Franz Gertsch who is consulting the conservators from time to time is very interesting and is greatly appreciated by the students.
