As an extension of the term "historically informed performance", reviving the musical practices of the 19th and early 20the centuries can be called "Early recordings informed performance". This comes with a new set of methodologies of how to collect information from these recordings, establishing source criticism, context information and including the performer's body as an analytical tool ("historical embodiment"). The source material includes recordings for reproduction pianos as well as silent movies and early sound films.
