Sales of German tractor manufacturers increased again in 2021, reaching € 5.234 billion (2020: € 4.74 billion). Domestic unit sales also increased and John Deere was able to regain the leading position. Once again, numerous new or revised tractor series were introduced. In the compact class, the focus continued to be on emissions compliance, while innovations in the medium and upper performance classes concentrated on the cabs. Operating concepts are increasingly influenced by digitalisation, e.g. by distributing tractor/implement information on several screens or individual function assignment of operating buttons. The tendency towards higher engine outputs, which could be observed in earlier model changes, was less pronounced in the year under review. Alternative drive concepts and thus also electrification are much-discussed topics in the industry, but there are still hardly any series-production vehicles.
