Sales of German tractor manufacturers increased to € 4.74 billion in 2020 (2019: € 4.27 billion) despite the difficult global situation. Domestic sales unit numbers also increased and Fendt was able to regain market leadership after many years. Large manufacturers cover the market needs for standard agricultural tractors in the power range from 40 to 375 kW with up to nine families. The engine outputs moved further up, while the premium equipment variants moved further down offering continuously variable transmissions, front axle suspensions and load-sensing hydraulics now even more and more also in the lower power classes. The cab equipment and operating concepts are also increasingly being adopted from the medium and upper performance classes. Research institutions and industry continue to focus on the automation of field work, digitalization, alternative drive systems, resource efficiency and environmental protection.
