(Request a copy)Until now, it was unknown which needs people with food allergies and intolerances have for allergen declaration of unpackaged food in German-speaking Switzerland. In order to close this gap, an online survey was conducted among affected persons. Out of 116 respondents, the vast majority (95.7%) preferred a written allergen declaration. The written ingredient was determined to be a more comprehensible and simpler declaration system. The majority of those affected (80.2%) considered a uniform system throughout Switzerland to be very important. Information about possible contamination was very important to 68.1% of those questioned. In order to meet the needs of people with food allergies and intolerances, further clarification of the regulation of allergen labeling in Switzerland is needed.
