An interdisciplinary CTI/Innosuisse project of the Berne University of Applied Sciences with Carrosserie Hess AG simulates and visualizes the advantage in the CO2 balance by using a modern "in-motion-charging" e-trolleybus for line optimizations by quarters or extensions into the agglomeration and region. The replacement of diesel buses by e-buses create an urban quality in addition to the energetic one. The scientific objective was summarized as followed: a coherent, big-data based, quantitative spatial simulation and evaluation of optimized, modified as well as new bus routes. This with special consideration of the affected neighbourhoods and CO2 neutrality or zero emissions. The result is a spatial visualization of optimized bus routes, passenger capacities, utilization and urban density in a decisionsupporting cockpit in the procurement process.
