Abstract
For rendered facades, the render takes on the function of weather protection. Two material properties are decisive for the weather protection of a facade: the water absorption capacity of the external render determines the amount of water absorbed in the event of driving rain and the water vapor permeability of the render layer controls the drying out of the external wall [1, 2]. The moisture distribution in the exterior wall is therefore significantly influenced by the hygric properties of the exterior render.
