Abstract
This volume includes the proceedings from the symposium “Performing, Engaging, Knowing”. In 2020, The ICTM Study Group on Applied Ethnomusicology, the Lucerne School of Music, the Department of Composition, Electroacoustics, and Tonmeister Education of mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and the Swiss Society for Ethnomusicology hosted a gathering with the same name of ethnomusicologists and artistic researchers in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 26 to 29 August 2020. Sub-topics for the conference comprised: Intervening artistically for social and political change; producing, performing, and disseminating auditory and sound knowledge in collaborative processes; developing ethnomusicologically informed artistic research methodologies; and decolonizing academia and “arts” in the contexts of Artistic Research and Applied Ethnomusicology.
