Abstract
The aim of this keynote address is to argue that organizational space – i.e. the space in which social enterprises operate, produce their products and deliver their services – is not just a neutral container or physical setting in which social entrepreneurial activities take place, but a crucial mechanism of social change. The presentation draws on empirical material collected in the context of public healthcare in Vietnam to illustrate how space influences the delivery of healthcare services and at the same time affects patients' experiences of them. in which meaningful encounters and work can flourish. We discuss the implications of our theorization and its contribution to the literature on meaningful work and coworking. The paper concludes by reflecting on the ethical responsibility for meaningful work under conditions of location-independent work.
