Abstract
In this article, the authors consider the sustainability of newly implemented nurse practitioner roles, with a focus on their context in Switzerland. The article emphasises the importance of structured role development, clear processes and sustained organisational support to ensure long-term nurse practitioner role sustainability. Recommendations include clarifying competencies, providing opportunities for professional growth and fostering organisational-wide understanding of nurse practitioner contributions to patient care.
