»Dann gab ich ihnen Bässe«. Zur Bedeutung der satztechnischen Übungen im Unterricht von Peter Cornelius

Peter Cornelius kombinierte in seinem Theorieunterricht am Münchener Konservatorium theoretische Erläuterungen basierend auf Konzepten Moritz Hauptmanns mit satztechnischen Übungen Ferdinand Hillers. Anhand von drei von Cornelius kommentierten satztechnischen Beispielen, die in seinen Aufschrieben überliefert sind, werden mögliche Lernziele identifiziert und die Rolle dieser Übungen in seinem Unterricht diskutiert.

In his theory lessons at the Munich Conservatory, Peter Cornelius combined theoretical explanations based on Moritz Hauptmann’s concepts with Ferdinand Hiller’s exercises in compositional technique. On the basis of three annotated examples of compositional technique that have survived in Cornelius’s notebooks, possible learning objectives are identified and the role of these exercises in his teaching is discussed.
