Abstract
300 years of European String Making. On the basis of the historic sources and
the recipes handed down in them, the oral history, through my frank
experimentation and combination, I tried to uncover the secret of good sheep
gut string, to understand the old craftmanship, and to develop from all these
components a gut string that can meet the modern demands of the musician.
