Abstract
Based on qualitative interviews, this article focuses on how social workers and jurists in juvenile justice authorities in the German-speaking part of Switzerland view the relevance of the parents of young offenders. The results show that they are relevant in various respects from the beginning of the investigation to the end of the implementation of the measures imposed, and that the success of these also depends on how their parental skills are judged. The article emphasizes the necessity of including parents in investigations into the juvenile criminal system.
