Tyrol here and there. The influence of growing transnationalisation on the development of the colony Pozuzo in Peruvian lowlan

Settlement colonies represent a way of life “here” as well as “there”, because of their often transnational relations, the importance in discourses of national integration and the tendencies for re-localisations. Pozuzo, in the lowlands of Peru, is a largely “failed” settlement colony, which for three decades has now been moving more and more from the periphery to the center of modernism. Relationships that have been established from Tyrol actually contribute to increasing trans-nationalisation. How do the descendants of the settlers experience, frame and reflect their bonds with Tyrol and Peru, past and present, agrarian and industrial habitus? The case study shows how – due to transnational relations – peasant values, attitudes and strategies change in dealing with the old and new “homeland”.

Siedlungskolonien stehen mit ihren transnationalen Beziehungen, ihrer Bedeutung in nationalen Einbindungsdiskursen und Re-Lokalisierungstendenzen für Lebenssituationen zugleich „hier und dort“. Pozuzo im Tiefland von Peru ist eine in weiten Teilen „gescheiterte“ Siedlungskolonie, die seit drei Jahrzehnten in verstärktem Maße von der Peripherie ins Zentrum der Moderne rückt. Beziehungen, die von Tirol aus geknüpft wurden, tragen zur Transnationalisierung bei. Wie erleben, gestalten und reflektieren die Nachfahren der EinwandererInnen ih re Verbundenheit mit Tirol und Peru, Vergangenheit und Gegenwar t, agrarischem und gewerblichem Habitus? Die Fallstudie zeigt auf, wie sich bäuerliche Werte, Haltungen und Strategien in der Auseinandersetzung mit alter und neuer Heimat aufgrund transnationaler Beziehungen verändern.
