Abstract
The paper presents recent results of the investigation of glued-in rods in beech hardwood as high performing connection. The investigations comprise the pull-out resistance, group effect as well as impact of moisture content and temperature. Measures for prevention of premature splitting could be defined. The connection using beech wood shows wood/glue failure on 10d and steel failure from 15d. High correlation could be found with comparing the test results with available design methods and a design method with a pull-out strength of 8 MPa is proposed.
