Conserving Performance, Performing Conservation: Research Festival and Exhibition, September 14-29, 2024, Tanzhaus Zurich, Aargauer Kunsthaus, Association pour la Danse Contemporaine Geneva, Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts Lausanne, Dampfzentrale Bern, HKB Bern

Can performance be conserved, and if so, how? And what does it mean to conserve performance? This research festival and exhibition are dedicated to bringing the outcomes of four years of research Performance: Conservation, Materiality, Knowledge (Swiss National Science Foundation, 2020 – 2024) to a wider audience. The festival will take place in established visual arts, dance and performances institutions across Switzerland. Three full days of interactive, thematic workshops, demonstrations and discussions and two artist events will be accompanied by an exhibition at the HKB that probes, in an experimental way, the ongoingness of performance in a deep time of conservation.
