Materialidad fotográfica: Notas sobre una teoría del entre

Photographic materiality traces a path of understanding, approach and linkage of (and with) photographic objects. Its power lies not only in its epistemological and methodological scope of approach to these naturotechnical artifactualities but also in the possibilities of a photographic ontology that shifts from the indexical and socio-cultural paradigms that have dominated the landscape of research on the medium. This article runs through a series of speculative articulations that understand photographic materiality as a relational ontology of the in-between as a field of uncertainty in which the guarantees of photographic certification, its recognition and the order of an assuring identification that leads us to understand it as a mere image are put in question. This approach will involve characterizing the orders of a photographic materialism, its descriptive scope, the differences it implies in relation to other ontological approaches to photographic objects and the logic of the threshold to which its consideration as a theory that dislocates the representational assurances confronts us.
