Nowadays, computer systems are presented in almostall types of human activity and they support any kind of industryas well. Most of these systems aredistributed where the communi-cation between nodes is based on computer networksof any kind.Connectivity between system components is the key issue when de-signing distributed systems, especially systems of industrial infor-matics. The industrial area requires a wide rangeofcomputercom-munication means, particularly time-constrained and safety-en-hancing ones. Fromfieldbus and industrial Ethernet technologiesthrough wireless and internet-working solutions to standardiza-tion issues, there are many aspects of computer networks uses andmany interesting research domains. Lots of them are quite sophis-ticated or even unique. The main goal ofthis paper is to presentthe survey of the latest trends in the communication domain of in-dustrial distributed systems and to emphasize important questionsas dependability, and standardization. Finally, the general assess-ment and estimation of the future development is provided. Thepresentation is based on the abstract description of dataflow withinasystem.
