The Smart City research project CPaaS.io is a joint project between Europe and Japan, involving 11 partners from industry and academia, supported by a city stakeholder board with representatives from 6 cities (3 cities from each region). Collaborative research projects commonly face the challenge of how to establish true collaboration and how to make sure that all partners deliver what is required of them. Adding different languages and working cultures to the mix makes the challenge even harder to overcome. Following established and agreed processes and frequent communication are key to overcoming these challenges.
