n psychiatry measures are often applied which aiming to prevent or reduce sensory overload. However, sensory overload can be described as a very non-specific concept that needs to be substantiated. The aim of the study was to narrow down the theme and to generate a first understanding of sensory overload based on clinical expertise in the German-speaking countries. As method the Delphi-method of consensus building within an expert panel was employed. Consensus was found on some important aspects. Some symptoms and measures in dealing with sensory overload were found. However, some aspects such as defining characteristics of sensory overload remain unclear. Further research within the topic area is necessary in order to obtain a transparent and consistent understanding of sensory overload in a psychiatric context.
