Tractor development continues to be strongly influenced by EU emission legislation. In 2020, manufacturers therefore continued to introduce new series with Stage V engines, although deadlines were extended. The exhaust after treatment systems as known from the upper power classes will also become standard from 56 kW upwards. Alternative drive systems are a strong focus in research and industry, especially with regard to electrical components. Battery-powered traction drives are not yet in large-scale production, but they have been announced in the lower power range, preferably with mechanically shifted drive ranges. Massey Ferguson introduced two new stepped transmissions for the 8S tractor range, the Dyna-7 with 7 power shifted speeds and the 28/28 Dyna E-Power full power shift transmission. Both versions are presented and discussed by transmission maps. The market offer of continuously variable transmissions was further expanded, but no fundamental new developments were announced.
