This study examines the costs of PV systems in Switzerland over the last 30 years. The PV price analysis encompasses both the components (PV system, PV modules, inverters, mounting structures) and the "soft costs" (installation effort, planning, permits, etc.). Data from various sources are included like company documents, invoices of realized plants, tenders for PV installations and PV price data in published studies. It is found that the figures in published studies do not reflect the reality of the PV price development and predictions for 2050. Based on own calculations, recommendations are formulated in view of a 100% decarbonization of the energy supply in Switzerland.
